Featured Wine 2015 Acumen Mountainside Sauvignon Blanc
2015 ACUMEN MOUNTAINSIDE SAUVIGNON BLANC

The Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of chamomile, jasmine, fresh white peach and dragonfruit. On the palate this medium-bodied wine continues with vibrant citrus flavors of Meyer lemon, key lime, and pink grapefruit, along with freshly baked pie-crust, lemongrass and a hint of Boston cream with a fresh, lively acidity on the bright and clean finish. This wine is great by itself or paired with your favorite crab or shrimp dish.

When we first start to learn about wine, it is easier to learn about California, Australian, and South American wines for several reasons. First, these places are familiar to us and we know how to pronounce the locations. Secondly, the grape variety is often presented on the label . . . Then something happens, a friend comes over for dinner, you order a flight at a specialized wine locale or you simply want to try something new at your favorite restaurant, and you are presented with "Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, Soave or a Vinho Verde" all of a sudden, we know nothing.

Whatever it may be, you find yourself intrigued by the wonderful taste and aromas, which are so different from American wines. In A Walk Through Europe Dustin Jones will try to lift the veil of mystery surrounding European Wines by introducing us to the following concepts:

•    A brief history of wine making in Italy, Spain, and France
•    The cultural and style differences between European wines and American wines
•    The geography of topography of Europe's wine regions
•    An overview of the French concept of "Terroir"

Over 20 years ago, Stolpman Vineyards Founding Partner, Thomas Stolpman, discovered what is to believed to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Hidden in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare Limestone outcropping & unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is ideally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes.

The Wine Lover invites you for this Special Engagement to Taste the pure expression of the Ballard Canyon vineyard.

A Little History on Peter Stolpman / Managing Partner
Pete graduated from Georgetown University and took a management job in Los Angeles. Once again living in California, Pete became increasingly involved in the company’s operation until he jumped off, quit his job, and embarked on a three year wine training program we now refer to as the “Master’s Degree by Tom Stolpman”. Pete made wine in Australia and Italy before returning home to sell wine for the Henry Wine Group, where he was awarded Fine Wine Specialist of the Year in 2008. At 26 years old, he was the youngest salesman to receive this award to date. More importantly, he also met his wife, Jessica Stolpman, during their training at HWG.
